Learning, the POWERMath Way |

|
POWERMath Method |
|
|
At
POWERMath, our endeavor is to maximize the potential of
your child through customized learning programs. Our programs
are designed to suit the learning style and pace of each
of our students. |
|
|
| |
We use the three-step POWERMath method
to leverage the maximum advantage:
- Developing a customized instruction plan.
- Monitoring the child’s increasing mathematical aptitude.
- Providing regular and detailed feedback to the child and the parents.
|
Effective Math
To maximize the mathematical aptitude of your child, she should be exposed to math in multiple ways. The more opportunities that she gets to experience math in different situations, the more she will appreciate math.
We are able to achieve an increased mathematical aptitude through:
- Group work - Student learn by observing their peers. To increase your child’s “group experience”,
our instruction includes math activities for small
groups of students
- Estimation - the ability to grasp a given situation and come to a quick decision is based on effective estimation techniques. Estimation techniques are of immense value, as students learn how to prioritize information, assimilate data and make the best choice.
- Individual thinking - Using
their own thought process to analyze and process information
and come up with a solution is a valuable skill for every
child. Different problems can be addressed in different
ways. Children must learn to make this distinction and
approach each problem the way they judge best.
- Practice - Practice provides the rigor and helps the student become familiar with different problems and situations. Practice helps reduce and eliminate errors and over sights. Understanding a concept is the first step in learning, mastering the concept only comes with practice
- Technology - We
leverage technology to make learning fun and easy. Through
the use of the Internet and other communication tools,
we can illustrate problems and concepts in more creative
ways. Technology is an enabler in the process of delivering
the POWERMath advantage to your child.
- Concrete Material - A picture is worth a thousand words, and this is true even when it comes to mathematics. Concepts are better explained through the use of objects. Especially in the case of younger children, who are better able to grasp a concept when they are able to visually connect a math concept to a physical object

Measures of Success
At the end of each customized program, we are able to judge the success of each student through an improvement in her ability to:
- Perform mathematical operations – Computation
- Apply math tools to real life situations – Application
- Clearly inform about implications – Communication
